“FRIEND WHO’S 2020 GOAL IS TO GET MOVING”

Callie’s Gifts:

  • Running shoes - I went to a professional running store this year and did it right (Run On in Dallas) and ended up with Brooks Glycerin 17s, but different shoes are better for different runners, different feet, etc - but you’ll want to protect your feet as long as you can - it impacts your knees and your hips and back, and those are valuable

  • Dope socks from Bombas that donate socks to homeless shelters

Emily’s Gifts:

“FRIEND WHO’S 2020 GOAL IS TO HAVE GOALS AND GET ORGANIZED”

Callie’s Gifts:

  • Powersheets -> intentional goal setting, prime the paint of the entire year, and refresh every 3 months with a detailed dive once a month to back up from my microscopic view of my own life, reflect, and course correct if need be

  • Flint leather company Texas Marlin Ultra-Slim wallet (3 colors)

  • That’s the Hope and the Dream Mastermind Group - *Fill out the Interest Form* if you’d like more information (not a committment)

    • This will be a peer-coaching group for creative Christian women as we point each other toward Christ, emerge with a clear picture of God's calling on our lives, and an idea incubator for the different ways that calling could manifest itself in different seasons of your life. It will last about 6 months, and you can be located anywhere in the world.

This could be for you if you are: a Christian woman who longs for opportunities to disciple and be discipled, and want to have a clearer picture of the calling God has on your life, and how He has gifted you.

“FRIEND WHOSE DREAM IS TO TRY SOMETHING NEW”

Callie’s Gifts:

  • so many people work with their minds or have their eyes on a screen all day, and cooking is such a valuable skill and gets us in the real tangible world - heat, knives, fellowship and food. Salt Fat Acid Heat is an incredible Netflix series, but it started it’s life as the best cookbook and maybe one of my favorite books I’ve ever read. No matter your food background or preference or restriction, this book has something to teach us all about the joy and power of feeding yourself and others well.

  • Cryotherapy: “During the session, the outside skin temperature lowers, stimulated receptors activate a central nervous system response (fight or flight) and vasoconstriction occurs. The blood rushes to the core to protect vital organs, reducing inflammation throughout the body. Once the session ends, the body immediately starts the rewarming process, vasodilation begins, supplying the body and extremities with newly oxygenated blood, jumpstarting your own body’s healing process over the next several hours.” (https://cryo1one.com/faqs-cryosauna/) (Dallas provider - https://cryo1one.com) benefits including: reducing inflammation, reduces migraines, treats mood disorders, reduces arthritic pain (https://www.healthline.com/health/cryotherapy-benefits#benefits)

James is the Founder and Envelope-Licker of Clothe Your Neighbor, soon to be Neighborly. God loves broken people (all people) with Allison

God loves broken people (all people) with Allison

November 19, 2019

Welcome to That's the Hope and the Dream podcast!

Today I am talking to my friend Allison. We reminisce about our life-changing trip to Israel together, and then we dive into human trafficking, Unconditional - the ministry Allison serves with, Trace fashion, ethical buying habits, and Dressmember. Make sure to listen at the middle and end for more information about human trafficking and global slavery. We also touch on spiritual disciplines within different streams of denominations, and we learn Allison’s favorite attribute of God. Listen in.

Our vision is a world without slavery. Help me to raise $500 in the month of December to help end human trafficking around the world and support survivors. ANY amount will help.

Here are just a few resources regarding human trafficking:

AWARENESS CAN SAVE LIVES. Recognize the signs of trafficking: here and here and here.

Save the National Trafficking Hotline Number in your phone: 1-888-373-7888 (website)

5 things you might not know about trafficking, History of trafficking, what you can do to encourage government support and funding, trafficking connection with: homelessness, foster children, race, pornography, climate change, refugees, LGBTQ+ youth, the super bowl.

Here are some amazing organizations you can support in the global fight for human dignity against trafficking and slavery. IJM, Dressmember, Cast (2018 efforts), A21, The Freedom Story, Thorn, Saving Innocence, and Restore.

Stats: 1 in 200 people are slaves. In 2016, the number of slaves globally was 40.3 million. “Human trafficking is a hidden crime, making it hard to quantify. Anti-trafficking advocates are often faced with the challenge of how to most effectively convey the scope and severity of the problem while putting victims’ stories into context. The swift movement of trafficked victims and the invisibility of these crimes makes it nearly impossible to determine exactly how many slaves there are in the world.” - source.

Dressmember Enneagram post? It’s like they know me.

You can find ethical clothing brands here and here.
